By accessing or using DownStack ("Service"), operated at downstack.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
DownStack is a web-based tool that converts markdown text to rich text suitable for publishing on Substack and similar platforms. The Service includes converting markdown tables to hosted images and providing a clipboard-ready output.
Some features of the Service require a user account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate or fraudulent information.
The Service offers a free tier with limited conversions and a paid Pro tier at $10 per year.
Pro tier benefits include unlimited conversions and permanent image hosting. Payment is processed through Stripe. All fees are non-refundable except within the first 14 days of purchase. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

Your Content: You retain full ownership of any content you create, convert, or process through the Service. We do not claim ownership of your markdown text, articles, or any derived content.
Featured Writers: By submitting content to the Featured Writers showcase, you grant DownStack a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display your name, likeness, and Substack URL for promotional and marketing purposes on the Service and in our marketing materials.
Our Service: The Service, including its design, code, branding, and features, is owned by DownStack and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service without our written consent.
Table images generated through the Service are stored on our infrastructure. Pro tier images are hosted indefinitely. Free tier images may be removed after 30 days. We reserve the right to remove images that violate these Terms or applicable law.
By creating an account, you consent to receive transactional emails related to your account, including payment receipts, password resets, and service notifications.
We may also send you marketing emails about new features, product updates, and promotional offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
We may use anonymized and aggregated usage statistics, testimonials, and case studies in our marketing materials. If we wish to use identifiable testimonials or case studies, we will obtain your consent first.
The Service uses analytics and advertising technologies, including cookies, tracking pixels, and tags from third-party providers such as Google, Meta, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOWNSTACK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DownStack and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at hello@downstack.app. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any fees paid, except as provided in Section 4.
Sections 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, and 16 shall survive termination of these Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be considered a waiver of those rights. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and DownStack regarding the Service.
